When volunteers first saw Spike, he was sitting quietly in a damp, dark basement of a ruined house.Dust, silence, broken walls. He didn’t meow. He didn’t run. He just looked — with eyes that seemed to have already seen too much. But life gave him a second chance
Who is Spike?
Spike is a fluffy gray cat with deep, expressive eyes. You could tell he had once been someone’s pet — his gentle movements, the way he trusted, how carefully he ate.
Most likely, his family had to leave in a hurry... and he stayed behind, waiting
How we found him
One of our volunteers was delivering food to stray animals when she heard a faint sound — a door creaking.Out of the shadows, Spike slowly walked into the light and sat down. He didn’t beg.He simply looked at her. It was his way of saying: “I’m still here.”

A new beginning
After a full vet check and two weeks in foster care, something shifted. Spike began to purr. He began to live.A month later, he was adopted by a kind elderly woman in Lviv. He sleeps on soft pillows, watches birds from the window, and lives without fear.
She gave him a new name too: Sonechko, which means “Little Sun.”
